The depth of the cave is 160 meters, the height of the ceilings of the underground halls reaches 10 meters, and the width is up to 8 meters.

Deep Yar waterfall

Glubokiy Yar is one of the highest waterfalls in Greater Sochi (41.5 meters). At its foot there is a cave entrance and a small lake. The road to the natural landmark begins at the Monastyr village. To get to the waterfall, you need to cross the Mzymta River and then follow the signs and the walking trail. Just above the cascade, at a distance of 300-400 meters, are the ruins of a Christian church.

Mzymta river

The deepest river that feeds the Black Sea. It originates in the bowels of the Main Caucasian ridge and through the Aibga-Achishkho chain rolls its muddy waters along the Akhshtyr gorge. The predominantly gray color of the river is due to the fact that a large amount of rock residues is mixed in the water. A fairly widespread version is that Mzymta, translated from the local dialect, means “mad”.
