One of the most unusual places for a full-fledged vacation can be safely considered the Andorran resort town of Encamp, which is located at an altitude of 1238 meters above sea level. The resort is located just 6 km from the capital of the principality and combines excellent conditions for lovers of snow slopes and history. During daylight hours, the main entertainment for tourists will be skiing, snowboarding and snowmobiling in one of the best ski resorts in Europe, and evening leisure will help brighten up unforgettable walks through museums with rare artifacts.

Unusual Casa Cristo Museum

Perhaps this ethnographic gallery is one of the most unique in the whole world. The museum is presented in the form of an ordinary Andorran house that existed throughout the principality at the end of the 19th century. In fact, tourists are offered to visit an ordinary building that is located in the center of Encamp, for which time seemed to have stopped several decades ago.

The museum presents a whole collection of objects of life and everyday life, which were used by local residents. Here you can see a stone sink, old utensils covered with a thick coating of dust, and even look into a secret place that the then owners used to store their modest valuables and money. Everything here indicates that the life of the inhabitants at that time was not easy, and they were often forced to leave their homes in search of a new life in the territory of neighboring France and Spain.

For lovers of automotive history, it will be useful and interesting to get acquainted with the automobile museum. Here you can see the most unusual examples of vehicles, and the collection itself is one of the largest in the entire territory of modern Europe.

Despite the fact that the exhibition is dedicated to cars (there are only 20 exhibits), the main part of the collection is occupied by various models of bicycles (about 100 pieces) and motorcycles (60 models). Well, as an addition, visitors are offered an extensive collection of posters, advertisements and all kinds of accessories. By the way, the most valuable exhibit is considered to be the Pinette machine of 1885, which was set in motion with the help of a steam mechanism.

Tourists should also visit the Electricity Museum. The entire collection is conventionally divided into three thematic sections. Here you can get acquainted with the brightest achievements of Andorrans, their inventions and trace how and in what direction the country's electrical industry developed. By the way, interesting experiments with electric current are also performed here, which will be of interest to representatives of the younger generation.

And if this is not enough, each tourist will be offered an unforgettable tour of the places that have forever gone down in the history of Andorran hydropower. As part of the excursion, you can look into the depths of the dam on the Engolasters reservoir, take a trip along the canals that collect water from rivers and even learn some secrets of electricity generation.
