For those tourists who have not yet had time to visit one of the most striking sights of Bulgaria - the Temple "Alexander Nevsky" - we hasten to inform you that from this year all excursions will be paid.

On February 16, the Sofia authorities announced their decision to introduce a fee for visiting a unique complex located in the very center of the capital. Each visitor will be required to pay 5 leva to be able to personally see the beauty and originality of the majestic temple. Interestingly, the decision to introduce the fee was made by the local rector of the church, Archimandrite Dionysius.

According to official information, the introduction of a paid visit will make it possible to create better conditions for tourists. So, the tourist operators themselves have repeatedly complained that it is almost impossible to see the entire beauty of the temple with poor lighting (all the chandeliers are turned on only on certain days, since it is materially expensive). It was they who came up with the idea to introduce fees from organized groups of visitors to cover the cost of electricity and heating.

Archimandrite Dionysius noted that there will be no entrance tickets, since this contradicts the canons of the Orthodox Church. Operators will pay for visiting tourists, and the rule will apply only to those tourists who come in organized groups and accompanied by a guide. This approach will reduce the financial burden on the church's budget and will allow redirecting part of the funds to activities to preserve the wealth of the temple in the form in which it is presented today.
