It is worth visiting Liverpool if only because it was here that the cult musical group "The Beatles" appeared. But this is not the only advantage of the glorious city of Great Britain, which contains a whole range of bright, unique and interesting sights. This is what our review will be devoted to. So, let's go to see the most interesting sights of Liverpool.

Albert dock

And we will start with a rather unusual complex of structures, which are included in the list of objects of special significance by UNESCO. For two centuries, Liverpool's docks have made this city the largest port on the planet. They were built by the genius engineer of his time Jesse Hartley in 1864, and although they have not survived in their original form, they can still become a real highlight of any excursion program.

We invite you to get acquainted with many interesting facts about the UK.

The building boasts truly innovative construction approaches. For example, this port was the first to find themselves from the use of wood, and the warehouses were designed in such a way as to allow arriving goods to be moved directly to the place of their storage.

Today, some of the warehouse premises have been turned into real museums, once you get into which you can imagine how this famous landmark looked a couple of centuries ago. Visitors are invited to listen to music, sip a cocktail and even have dinner.

As for the premises reserved for the museum, the Merseyside Maritime Museum and The Beatles Story gallery-attraction are in special demand. There are shops and restaurants nearby, where you can appreciate the aroma of freshly made coffee and enjoy the wonderful light show that begins in the city after dusk.

The Beatles Museum

For 21 euros, you can visit several interesting exhibitions dedicated to the life and work of the legendary Liverpool Four. Discounts are provided for students and children. If you find yourself in the museum without a guide, then don't be in a hurry to get upset. After all, at the entrance you will be offered to use a special device, which, with the help of audio recording, will accompany you from exposition to exposition. There is even a Russian-language audio guide.

In the exhibition halls, tourists will be able to follow how the group was born, how world fame came to it, and even see unique exhibits of musical instruments on which musicians once performed their star hits. There is a considerable collection of concert costumes, photographs, records and even originals of song lyrics.

Bluecoat Chambers

This sign hides the oldest building that exists in the heart of Liverpool. To make it clear, many years ago, charity grammar lessons were held in the premises, which were attended by children from poor families. And the name Bluecoat comes from the blue color of the school uniform.

According to historical information, the school was founded in 1708 by two benefactors - a priest and a former captain of a sea vessel. The building itself looks unusual. It is H-shaped, and the walls and roof are decorated with cherubs and other figurines.

Nowadays, the building has been turned into an art center, which sometimes hosts exhibitions of paintings by both contemporary artists and their more famous colleagues of past centuries. An interesting program is offered to the attention of visitors, which includes theatrical performances, exhibitions, master classes and music concerts.

Pier Head

When you find yourself at the foot of the pompous buildings of Pier Head, you will understand why a few centuries ago the British Empire looked unshakable. The attraction is located in the already familiar Liverpool docks, and includes three buildings and a complex of memorials. The central building is called the Royal Liver Building, and it really looks like a king. Rumor has it that the engineers took American skyscrapers as a model.

The complex is included in the list of the most significant historical and cultural buildings in Liverpool.

Speke Hall

Even more emotions will be caused by another shocking landmark of Liverpool, which is known as Speke Hall. This building can lay claim to the title of the most unusual and oldest in the city, because it appeared here in the 16th century and clearly contrasts with the area. And if we consider that the neighboring buildings look modern, then the thought involuntarily arises in my head that this is not an illusion?

If we turn to the history of the house, it turns out that its owners were successively three noble families of Liverpool, who enjoyed spacious halls and unique wood decorations for four centuries. But in 1921, the last representative of a noble family decided to transfer the huge building to the city. And since then, this attraction has been included in the list of must-see sites for those tourists who come to Liverpool.

Town Hall

You should not pass by another interesting place, which is called Town Hall. Firstly, it is a very old structure that was built over 250 years ago. Secondly, the project is the result of the painstaking work of two ingenious architects of the time (the main building was designed and built by John Wood the Elder, and after a while it was expanded and redesigned by James Watt). And thirdly, the building is a striking example of Georgian architecture.

Initially, Town Hall was planned as a town hall, instead of the old one, which was located nearby. It is interesting that after the revision of the building by J. Watt, it acquired a rather unusual style for buildings of that time. The architect was able to successfully combine elements of styles such as Gothic and Neoclassical. And the interior decoration contains Art Deco elements that look very original. Here you can see both colorful mosaic panels and decorative panels with stucco elements.

You can also look at the original candlesticks, chandeliers and paintings that have been preserved here since the past centuries.

We hope our short guide to Liverpool attractions will please all tourists who decide to visit this city with a rich and amazing history.
